About Our Inn

Formerly the Red Lion Motor Lodge

The Red Lion Motor Lodge was built in the late 1960’s with the idea of providing simple summer lodging to guests who were coming to visit Leelanau County for all that it had to offer, whether it was for hiking, beaching, boating, shopping, going to one of the many restaurants, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore or just taking a drive around the scenic M22 highway. While just 10 miles north Traverse City and 4 miles south of Suttons Bay, it sits just across the street from West Bay. Over the years the Inn changed hands, more rooms were added including a lovely Chalet and two large apartments.

Meet the Owners.

In 2017 David and Theresa Gersenson purchased the Red Lion Motor Lodge. In the first couple of months the Gersenson’s have made several updates to the property bringing it up to more modern yet still simple standards. Along with what the area has always offered, visitors now have access to bike trails, wineries, breweries and so much more.

In 2017 the Red Lion Motor Lodge was re-branded as the M22 Inn, Suttons Bay
